Diss 3rds maintained their unbeaten league start to the season with a 2nd victory on the road to Lowestoft and Yarmouth.

Diss 3rds maintained their unbeaten league start to the season with a 2nd victory on the road to Lowestoft and Yarmouth. With a few changes in personnel from the previous week, Andy McAlister coming in at number 8, Jack Owen returning to the back row and Tom Miller and Ali Thomas adding pace to the backline.

Diss began the game with fourteen men due to Halifax born Lee Lawton arriving late but Diss were soon on the score line by a good run by Paul Richardson playing hooker and a dashing run by Owen Atkinson set up a maul close to Yarmouths line and Mike Garnham broke away and scored close to the posts. Naz Gurgin converted. Soon after Diss were on the attack again through Andy McAlister who broke through and Diss again found themselves close to the try line. A break at the back of the ruck by captain Benny Goodman sucked in the Yarmouth defence and created space for Fergus Newman to set up Ali Thomas for a try out wide.

Yarmouth had periods of play especially at the scrums where their weight dominated all day but the tackling of Jack Owen and Mike Jones playing in the back row was awesome. Diss added another try through good work by Will Appleton and Paul Richardson at hooker and again the ball went through the hands for Tom Miller to burst through and score.

The second half was dominated by Yarmouth who scored a try almost immediately after the restart through their massive scrum and Diss spent most of the half defending their lead. Very rarely though was there a missed tackle by Diss and even though Yarmouth scored again with powerful forward play Diss never looked like losing the game.

During the second half full back Ali Thomas left the field with an injured shoulder and Diss finished the game as they started it with fourteen men and in the dying seconds Diss added a penalty to pull the game out of reach of Lowestoft and Yarmouth and the game finished 12-20.
