Diss travelled to Wymondham for their first game of the new year due to cancelations and a frozen pitch at UEA last weekend. Diss began on the front Foote and some crafty work by Seb Goodge almost resulted in a try when he stole the ball at a ruck and almost scored from inside his own half. Indiscipline by the Diss captain resulted in a twenty metre advantage given away which helped Wymondham who took a quick penalty and scored with players running at space out wide.
Soon after, another mistake by Diss when camped on the Wymondham try line resulted in another try score from deep in their own half. Diss began to put some play together and Karlton Gray was menacing in the front row and John Llewellyn was effectual in the line outs. Diss were playing all the attacking rugby but again got caught out with a kick over the top that the wing and full back of Diss couldn’t control and the ball fell to a Wymondham winger who set up another Wymondham try. Diss managed to get on the scoreboard just before half time when after constant attack after attack resulted in a penalty try for a high tackle out wide on winger Jordan Harris.
Diss began the second half as they finished the first and played all there rugby in the oppositions half and got just rewards when Ethan Page went over from close range after good play by Gray and Jack Germany and Will Foote at number eight. Diss continued to attack and with Will Scott at outside centre Diss had a target to punch holes in Wymondham defence. It was a day for the forwards though and Diss scored again with Karlton Gray going over out wide. Diss continued to attack and almost scored again but ran out of time but can console themselves on a sterling comeback.
