Diss 38 : 17 Holt 3s - 28th February 2015

Diss took on north Norfolk rivals Holt in a fiery encounter in a game that involved nine tries. Diss began the better side and were soon on the score sheet by a try from John Alexander who scored after good work in a Diss line out . Diss continued to pressurise Holt but managed to fluff their scoring chances when two chances went begging close to the Holt line. Holt made chances themselves and even though Diss defenced well eventually Holt scored. The first half went backwards and forwards and Naz Gurgin went close to scoring as did Jack Germany after a good run. The half finished 7-5 to Diss. The second half followed the same pattern by Diss who played all the better rugby however this was countered by Holt being strong in the scrum. Naz Gurgin scored the second try for Diss after a good run by Charlie Oakes and more good work by John Alexander. Holt again managed to score after sloppy tackling and brought the game back within touching distance. The Diss lineout was working well and with Seb Goodge pulling the strings and fly-half he managed to release space for captain Benny Goodman to score from centre who cut a scissor line and went over from outside his twenty two. Seb Goodge converted. Diss thought they would get on top of Holt but they had different plans and scored again half way through the half. With twenty minutes to go the score was 19-17 to Diss but now Diss managed to step up a gear and Ben Holdsworth from the wing managed to break through some tackles and score from out wide. Diss maintained the pressure from and after some good tackles were made by Jack Owen at flanker who was man of the match Diss managed to finish off Holt with two tries in the last five minutes by Naz Gurgin who played well at nine and John Alexander who score his second try of the afternoon. Seb Goodge found his kicking range and managed to convert the last three tries and Diss ran out winners 38-17.
