Diss RFC under 13's two teams and 1 great festival.

Such is the strength in depth of the Diss RFC Under 13’s that they arrived at the first Norfolk RFU and Eastern Counties RFU festival as the only club able to field two complete teams. The festival was organised into two random pools of 5 teams.
Diss 1 were first up playing a very tough game against North Walsham. Diss 1 lost 4 tries to nil against the side which ended the day with highest points. This was the closest score that Walsham experienced during the day.
Diss 2 played a very closely fought 0 – 0 draw with Wymondham. A very good defensive display which set them up for the rest of the festival.
Diss 1 then suffered their last defeat of the day against a very well drilled Holt side 3 – 0. Diss 1 were clearly growing in confidence and demonstrated a more aggressive edge in the next game beating Lowestoft & Yarmouth by 6 tries to nil. Their last game was against West Norfolk a side which normally produces a close result but Diss 1 had the edge this time and produced an impressive 6 -1 result.
Diss 2 were bolstered by the draw against Wymondham and had to reduce numbers to match those of the Holt 2 team. This resulted in a 3-0 win for Diss 2 but more importantly they were beginning to realise that their teamwork was superior to the two teams they had met so far. Norwich were keen to impress on Diss 2 that they could stop their forward play and disrupt their backs but as the game went on the Diss 2 backs were enjoying a lot of ball secured by a very good forward performance. Kenny Sayer was at his rampaging best and Finlay Martin never missed a tackle. Most impressive was the interplay between Joe Jermy at outside centre and Drew Harris on the wing with both receiving tremendous support from Elliot Fulcher. The second of the two tries scored by this pairing was a sublime mix of passing and support play which was applauded by supporters from both sides. The game ended 2-0 to Diss 2.
Diss 2 rounded off a fantastic display of flowing team rugby with a 4 -1 win over Crusaders in the last game of the day.
With all the results in from the two pools Diss under 13’s two teams join North Walsham, Holt 1 and Wymondham into the top 5 seeded teams for the next festival in January.
