A good win for Diss in Second round of National Plate
It was great to turn out a full squad today against North Walsham in the National Colts Plate first round.
These two squads have not had a match together for some time , Walsham had a lot of new faces on the pitch so we were playing against a new team from Walsham.
The first half started well for Walsham who capitalised early from a penalty to go 3 nil up.
This however did not phase the Diss Squad who settled down to business and focused on some excellent defensive work and keeping Walsham in their own half for most of the game, and forcing errors to which they capitalised on with great skill,
The first try was scored in a true Ben Youngs style by Alex Leeder who caught the Walsham team napping and sneaked in a quick tap and go move wright through the middle of forwards to score in the middle of the posts which he then converted.
This was to be the game plan for the rest of the game, as soon as any opportunity came we scored next with Tom Watson and again by Alex Leeder both not converted. Walsham gave us a really good game and exposed some areas we have to work on.
It was a great result from a great turn out and it was really good to see some familiar faces turn up to watch and wanting to come back to be a part of Diss Colts again.
