Diss win the closest of games

Diss v Ipswich twice in one weekend was the club headline, as the Diss 1st team played a winning match against Ipswich on Saturday at Mackenders, while Diss Colts had to travel on Sunday to Ipswich, in a tightly contested LV Round 1 Cup match.

Diss Colts turned up at Ipswich RFC on a very foggy damp afternoon with just enough to field a team with one sub, as we are struggling with injuries this weekend and two of our team had commitments with the England Lambs. This however this did not hinder us to field a very strong and talented squad who were well capable to do the job in hand.

Ipswich started proceedings with a well worked try which was not converted, this was the catalyst to wake Diss up and take control of the game with the best defence, breakdown and turnover ball its displayed all season. Diss came back into the game with a superb try from Luke Burridge which was converted by his twin Ed Bullock, it has to be said for two players playing together for the first time will have a great partnership for future games.

Ipswich came back with another unconverted try but this was soon replied to with a killer Luke Miller try which finished the game nicely. Diss were unlucky to add to that when Tom Watson incepted and ran almost the lenght of the pitch, only to be tackled a few metres out. Ipswich gave our Diss a strong challenge, with the game possibly going either way, however Diss defence clamped down and killed off the game for a Diss win, 10 - 12.
