Tough conditions to play in today

On a very cold wet and dull Sunday morning at Diss RFC with all the pitches except pitch 1 been frozen and unplayable we had to wait some time for our slot to play this fixture.
The conditions were the deciding factor on how this game would be played, which did not suit the Diss game, it was a battle all day long for the forwards on both sides which suited Hadliegh as they have a very well drilled pack and were very efficient at jackling and the breakdown.
The Diss pack soon got to grips with this pack and started to turn things around and with some clever understanding of rugby laws on line outs managed to create confusion three times denying them opportunity to form a rolling maul.
Hadliegh started well with a converted try which was due too a slow start from Diss. they soon got their act together and for most of the first half the score was held at 14 / 7 in Hadleigh's favour.
Charlie Hay scored the only try which was hard won against such a strong defence on scoring Charlie came over to the bench to straighten out a slight injury and was soon back on the pitch. Alex leeder converted the try.

The game became more of a mud bath making it hard to see who was who, it was to be Hadliegh's day as our defence tired and missed tackles that let them through our ranks, We will have another go at them next Sunday as we have them in the first round of the Eastern Counties Cup at Diss RFC, hopefully conditions will be more favourable to our game.
